Review: Tesco New York Cheesecake

I received a £3 voucher as part of The Orchard at Tesco panel, this voucher was to be used as full or part payment towards something from Tesco’s finest* Chilled and Frozen Desserts, we decided to give their New York Cheesecake a go.

The New York Cheesecake can be found in Tesco’s chilled section for £4, we put the additional £1 towards it and made it a family dessert. The overall size of the cheesecake was good, there was plenty to go around my little family of 3 (over a couple of days) and can easily satisfy 6-8 people. As far as New York Cheesecakes go, this is one of the nicest shop bought ones I have tried for a while. We decided to team it with a few of Tesco’s fresh raspberries and a raspberry coulis (I am a raspberry addict) or you could drizzle it with cream.

This was my son’s portion

The New York Cheesecake had a nice, firm biscuit base and the cheesecake itself was creamy, smooth with the right balance of sweetness; it wasn’t too sickly which I often find with shop bought cheesecakes. The whole family enjoyed it with my son asking for more, even after it had completely gone.

Review: Tesco Stir Fry Medley

I received a £3 voucher as part of The Orchard at Tesco panel, this voucher was to be used as full or part payment towards something from Tesco’s fresh fruit and veg range that I’ve never tried before, we decided to give their Stir Fry Medley a try.

The Stir Fry Medley was on as part of a 3 for £4 deal so we also decided to give their sugar snap peas and asparagus (which is for dinner tonight) a try but rather than filling my blog full of reviews about vegetables, I thought I’d keep it simple and use the item I bought and used as the basis of a meal rather than just an accompaniment. We turned this beautiful tray of fresh, crispy vegetables into a delicious, simple chicken stir fry.

The medley included baby corn, mangetout, broccoli, spring onions and a red chilli which is everything you need for the basis of stir fry. All the vegetables were fresh and looked so appetising (which is why we went for them). I teamed them with some garlic, red and green peppers, the left overs in a frozen stir fry mix, chicken breast and soy sauce then served with egg fried rice. The chilli packed a lovely kick the rest of the vegetables retained their crunch which made this dinner a real treat.

Overall I was really happy with the quality, quantity and price of the medley. We normally just throw some frozen vegetables into a stir fry so this was a real treat even though it was super sensible (and REALLY healthy). This is going to be a regular addition to my vegetable shop and will be replacing those frozen vegetables for this fantastic little set.
