An honest confession here. I LOVE Sports Direct and I’m not a sporty person. I love them because they have a great range of normal clothing and an even better range of kids, things that are right up my street. So when I was contacted by Britmums to take part in their #sdfiverchallenge and couldn’t say no.
Sports Direct £5 Christmas Challenge
The challenge required me to find gifts, from the £5 range, and see what I thought about the price vs quality. I bought a couple of other items not from the £5 range while I was at it, all perfect gifts for the family, which I will also include here.
Selfie Booth Photo Fun Set
I decided that this would be a great gift for my sister. She loves taking selfies and I figured that she and my nephew (he’s six) would have loads of fun messing around with all the silly props. For £5 it’s a lot of Christmas fun so make sure you keep an eye out over on my Instagram on Christmas day for some silly photos.
Star Wars Mug
Our entire family is Star Wars obsessed, especially my brother-in-law who is a bit of a nerd. He loves collecting memorabilia from all sorts of places so I thought this Star Wars Stormtrooper mug would be a great gift for him; as long as I can prevent Aaron or Eban from claiming it for themselves.
The Other Items
Due to having to pay the £4.99 shipping anyway (included in the gift card total for the post) I decided to take a look around at what other gifts I could grab while I was at it.
I came across two t-shirts that I thought would be great for my brother and another for my brother-in-law.
Both t-shirts were £8 and I thought they were great value. The red one I picked for my brother, he’s 17 so clothes are his life and finding something for him other than a voucher can be difficult. The white one Aaron chose for his brother and the style is very much his kind of style.
So, What Did I Think Of The Range Of £5 Gifts From Sports Direct?
It was an ok range, I mean there were a few perfect gifts for things like Secret Santas or stocking fillers. When in doubt buy a mug right? Obviously, with it being Sports Direct you have a good range of football inspired gifts, I almost grabbed a Liverpool fidget spinner for someone as a gift – most of my family are Liverpool supporters (I know, you can’t pick family).
How Was The Sports Direct Service?
As I said previously, I’m a big fan of Sports Direct. I think their quality and prices are, for the most part, exceptional. My package arrived when expected and in great condition, my only issue is that I was sent a random pair of size six brown loafers.
Normally I don’t snuff an accidental freebie but these weren’t in my size (or anyone’s size), they were vile and damaged. They ended up just going in the bin. Obviously, it was sent out as a mistake so can’t really fault them for that.
Altogether it was a regular shopping experience. I tend to pop into Sports Direct during the Christmas shopping period anyway to have a look at what Liverpool bits they have in, check out the men’s t-shirts and have a look for something for Eban to wear. I wouldn’t normally buy online due to the delivery cost.
